Christmas Service Opportunies
Ida Spence Christmas Tree Tags - Please take a tag from the tree in the narthex at church. These gifts are due back to Taylor Mill U.M.C. by December 8th so that they may be wrapped if needed and delivered. Please place the tree tag you select with your wrapped or unwrapped package so that it is given to the correct person.
The Secret Manna Society started 7 years ago with some loose change found in a desk drawer. In the past 6 years we have directly (given to identified families) or indirectly (through Action Ministries) provided December groceries to approximately 700-750 families. We accept non-perishable food items (crackers instead of bread). We attempt to identify families at risk for hunger and deliver groceries to them directly. All food left over is given to Action Ministries for distribution through its network. We will accept donations up through 12/16/10, primarily due to Action Ministries sending its truck to pick up the remaining groceries from our law firm on 12/17. However, any items delivered after 12/17 of course will be accepted and delivered to Action Ministries (Very seldom can any rule be 100% firm, especially for a cause like this one.) Taylor Mill UMC has been active in this project in the past.
The Democratic Veterans of NKY At The Point was founded 6 years ago. We are involved in 2 projects for the Veterans at the Ft. Thomas V.A. Community Center during the Christmas season. (1) We have a Christmas Party for the guys every year with a band (if we can find a band to do it for free). The party this year is at 2 p.m. on 12/12/10. We are always looking for volunteers to help out. (2) We first became involved because we were told the vets were in need of soap or socks. NOT ACCEPTABLE! Since our original involvement with the help of our Church and different Churches we have provided thousands of clothing items, and other items such as soap, DVDs, DVD players, books, food, etc., etc., etc. The Taylor Mill UMC Women Group has been very involved with this project throughout the year. This year the following items are needed:
Men’s all white socks, sizes 10-13 and 13-16 Women’s socks size medium

Women’s underwear Medium and Large
Sock caps Any other new clothing items (men’s shirts – medium to extra large) women’s shirts (medium to large) Jackets, coats, scarves, gloves (medium to extra large)
